Lace up your hiking shoes, prepare your fishing gear, and join Pack 807's Explorers Club. Outings may include hiking, fishing, geocaching, and other outdoor adventures at local and regional parks.

Why Join?

• Discover nature: Build appreciation for local wildlife, plants, waterways, and landscapes.

• Teamwork and friendship: Practice communication and support one another on the trail.
• Outdoor skills and safety: Learn navigation, preparedness, Leave No Trace, and safe group travel.

Trailblazer Rewards

Scouts track miles completed during official Explorers Club outings. Mileage can carry forward as Scouts work toward Pack recognition.

• At 15 official miles, a Scout earns a Trailblazer Staff.
• Scouts receive a bead after each official outing to add to the staff.
• Additional cumulative-mileage recognition may be available at 25, 50, 75, 100, 150, and 200 miles.

Pack 807 may also recognize substantial family hiking completed outside official club outings when the mileage and trail are documented. Current leaders will confirm award details and eligibility.

Club Rules

• Outings depart from the announced meeting location on schedule.
• Typical hike lengths range from approximately 2 to 7 miles.
• Scouts may join the Explorers Club at any time during the year.
• Siblings may participate when they can do so without disrupting the group. Only registered Scouts earn Pack hiking rewards.
• Lions and Tigers must have an adult partner hiking alongside them.
• Adults transporting Scouts must remain with and supervise those Scouts. No drop-offs are permitted.
• Every adult is responsible for their Scouts' water, snacks, bathroom needs, and safety.
• The group starts, takes breaks, and finishes together.
• Stay ahead of the assigned trail leader in the rear position.
• Official mileage must be recorded by the outing leader.
• Dogs are not permitted on Pack 807 Explorers Club outings.

What to Wear and Bring

• Yellow Pack 807 activity shirt
• Comfortable hiking shoes and appropriate socks
• Small daypack
• Cub Scout Six Essentials: first-aid kit, water bottle, flashlight, trail food, sun protection, and whistle
• Enough water for the entire outing
• Insect repellent and a rain poncho
• Weather-appropriate layers, hat, and gloves

Scouts should carry their own lightweight gear. Longer outings may include lunch on the trail; follow the specific event listing.

Trail Behavior

• Always use the buddy system.
• Stay with the group and never wander away from the route.
• Hike on the right and pass on the left.
• Respect other trail users and watch for cyclists.
• Follow Leave No Trace: plan ahead, stay on trails, pack out trash, leave what you find, and respect wildlife.
• If separated from the group, stop, think, observe, and plan. Stay calm, stay put, use your whistle, and conserve water and food.
